    Building Permit Applications

    Below are the downloadable forms required to secure permits for building, excavation, fence construction, etc. anywhere within the Town of Blue River.


    It is important to note the following:

    1) Approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) is required for any new construction, any excavation or importation of dirt, or any project that changes the exterior appearance or footprint of any existing structure.

    2) Building Permits are required for any new construction in excess of two hundred (200) square feet in area, re-roofing, re-siding or any remodel involving structural modifications. Building Permits are also required for remodeling, when the project value exceeds $1,000.00, except when specifically exempted by the Building Code.

    3) Any tree removal, other than dead or down trees, must be approved by the Town Board of Trustees, or its designated representative, unless associated with an approved Building Permit. See "Forest Management Permit" application (above).

    4) Allow 40-45 days to process applications requiring P&Z approval. Approval of specific Subdivisions Homeowners Associations may be required and is the responsibility of the applicant.
